Kelly has extensive experience in investment banking, equity research, and management consulting, with expertise in the medical technology, pharmaceutical and broader health care fields, particularly relating to diabetes and obesity. Kelly is a Special Director of Synergy Advisors, working on selected projects in her areas of expertise. Previously Kelly was a medical technology equity research analyst at US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, where she was responsible for analyzing profitability trends and industry fundamentals for domestic and international medical technology companies. At Piper, Kelly authored company and industry commentaries, and co-covered 16 medical technology companies. Close also served as an equity research associate at Merrill Lynch, where she helped follow 12 medical technology companies and where she co-authored a piece ultimately published in the New England Journal of medicine. Kelly also worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she specialized in pharmaceutical operational and strategic studies. Her clients included Fortune 500 companies as well as private clients. Kelly began her career as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs. With respect to the diabetes industry, Kelly has far-reaching financial experience and proven track record, with a demonstrated ability to assess corporate strategy, business drivers, and key industry metrics. Her strong interest in diabetes reflects her extensive personal experience as a patient with type 1 diabetes. She has been part of 10 diabetes-related clinical trials and has been a participant at the last 10 consecutive ADA conferences, last four AADE conferences, and multiple other diabetes-related meetings (EASD, Canadian Diabetes Association, ADA Postgraduate Sessions, Diabetes Technology, Children With Diabetes, Continuous Glucose Monitoring, NAASO, etc.). She manages a consultancy focused on the diabetes and obesity industry segments. Kelly was awarded an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in Economics and English, magna cum laude, from Amherst College. |
