Ms. Copeland joins Ception from GlaxoSmithKline where she was the Head of Commercial Strategy for the Center of Excellence in External Drug Discovery. Kelly joined the team at its inception with responsibility for providing strategic direction to both external and internal development programs as well as therapy area focus to the team's business development efforts. Previously, Kelly was Director of Commercial Strategy within GSK's R&D business and responsible for a range of therapeutic areas including: inflammation, dermatology, immunology, ophthalmology and surgical/GI areas. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Kelly began her career in health care administration, working for Henry Ford Health System, developing disease management programs for the managed care division. After completing her master's degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan, she completed a post-graduate fellowship with Henry Ford Health System. There she led process improvement teams to reduce cost and increase efficiency across both the in and outpatient settings for the Henry Ford Medical Group. Kelly subsequently joined a small group in developing and implementing a novel management-consulting model within the healthcare arena. Her focus was cost reduction and increased throughput through the development of partnerships between community physician groups and the hospitals in which they practice. Kelly received her BS from the University of Michigan. |
