Keith Nagayama recently joined the firm's redevelopment and housing group. His practice focuses on representing and advising redevelopment agencies on real estate transactions, implementing and developing affordable housing, addressing relocation issues, adopting, implementing and amending redevelopment plans and compliance with the legal requirements of Community Redevelopment Law. Keith has assisted clients with affordable housing regulatory agreements, loan documents, purchase/sale agreements and the adoption of new redevelopment plans.Prior to joining Meyers Nave, Keith worked with the Public Law Center in Santa Ana, where he co-managed affordable housing advocacy, devised community economic development strategies and advised nonprofit organizations on business, tax and charitable fundraising laws. He analyzed housing and land use elements, relocation plans and redevelopment inclusionary housing obligations to comply with state laws. One of his projects involved collaborating with the Orange County United Way on economic development in lower income communities, which included conducting a study of potential land use and economic barriers to develop more licensed child care businesses.While participating in the Hastings Community Economic Development Clinic, Keith dealt with economic issues in the Tenderloin Neighborhood and redevelopment issues in the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency's Mid-Market Survey Area. He addressed First Amendment issues regarding zoning and limiting adult entertainment in the Mid-Market Survey Area and advised the Project Area Committee on legal options and possible amendments to the San Francisco Planning Code.Keith received his J.D. in 2003 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. While in law school, he was Senior Articles Editor for Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. He received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science with an International Relations Concentration in 2000. Keith is a member of the California and Nevada state bars. |
