Mr. Smith, 72, served as vice chairman of Mellon Financial Corporation and senior vice chairman of Mellon Bank, N.A., of Pittsburgh, Pa., as well as a director of both organizations, until his retirement in December 1998. Mr. Smith also is a director of DENTSPLY International Inc. He currently serves as the chairman of Allegheny General Hospital and is on the boards of West Penn Allegheny Health System; Invesmart, Inc.; Baytree Bancorp., Inc.; Baytree National Bank and Trust Co.; and LED Medical Diagnostics, Inc. Mr. Smith received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan and his M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, and is a Chartered Accountant. He is chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. Mr. Smith has been a director since 2000; his term ends in 2010. |
