Mr. Jarrett handles litigation, primarily in the areas of maritime and oilfield torts and contracts. His trial experience includes major well blowouts, wrongful death and personal injury claims (both land-based and maritime), and vessel collisions. He has extensive experience in litigating explosions, insurance and indemnity disputes, engineering malpractice, vessel construction, reservoir damage and engineering. He often draws upon his engineering background and prior experience as a merchant marine officer in handling these sorts of energy and maritime matters.Mr. Jarrett also has expertise in construction disputes, specifically with vessels and property, building defects and design errors, patent infringement and products liability litigation. His practice involves collaborating with insurance companies in both the defense and pursuit of coverage litigation. In addition to handling numerous cases and appeals in both the Louisiana and Texas state and federal courts, Mr. Jarrett has significant experience in arbitration.Mr. Jarrett frequently speaks on such issues as insurance and indemnity, obligations between joint venture partners, oilfield torts, accident investigation strategies, and expert witnesses. A graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Alvin B. Rubin, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, from 1985 to 1986. |
