Mr. Keitaro Yoshida has been actively involved in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics areas for over 50 years. He graduated from the School of Applied Chemistry at Keio University in 1951 and joined Taito and Company, where he founded a joint venture with Pfizer to manufacture antibiotics. He served as Assistant to the Managing Director for production of Pfizer's therapeutic products in Japan and worked as General Manager of the Chemical Department until 1964.
He joined Amano Pharmaceuticals, a leading enzyme manufacturer, as a member of the Board in charge of Marketing and Development. After joining Daiichi Pharmaceuticals in 1967, he worked as Deputy General Manager of Corporate Planning, International Department, Research and Development and was then promoted to General Manager of Corporate Licensing and Development Group. In 1990, Mr. Yoshida became President's Special Assistant for Corporate Management and Development until he retired in 2005.
He also founded DaiSyva, a joint venture between Syntex-Syva and Daiichi Pure Chemical to market ELISA Diagnostics in Japan. In the arena of thereapeutic drugs, he set up a joint venture between Sanofi Daiichi in Japan and Laboratoires Daiichi Sanofi in Paris to develop platelet coagulation inhibitors and served as a member of its Board. He founded the Japan Pharmaceutical License Association (JPLA) and functioned as Chairman and Director of the Japan Pharma Delegate, which has over 200 members comprised of key representatives from Japanese and foreign pharmaceutical companies, to develop a better business environment in the Japanese market place. |
