Kathleen Burkett began her career in the Internal Audit Department at Butcher & Singer in Philadelphia PA in 1987. Since entering the financial services industry, she has worked as an internal auditor, a retirement plans specialist, a personal financial planner, and a marketing and product manager. In 1989, the firm merged with Wheat First Securities and she relocated to Richmond VA.

At Wheat First, she continued to advance in the Audit Department until making a career change into Personal Financial Planning in 1993 when she joined the Finanical Strategies Department. As a Financial Planning Specialist at Wheat, Kathleen advised clients regarding retirement income distribution planning, personal income tax and estate planning strategies.

Wheat First Securities subsequently merged with various firms and today is known as Wachovia Securities. During this time, Kathleen was the Financial Planning Marketing Manager and developed national educational programs for financial advisors and clients. She also acted as a subject matter expert in the functional design and system development of the firm’s investment advisory and financial planning software tools. In addition, she was responsible for a team of financial professionals that acted as a technical resource to financial advisors nationwide. In 2005, Kathleen left Wachovia Securities and joined Triangle Securities to lead our firms Retirement and Estate Planning efforts.

A graduate of Penn State, Kathleen earned the distinctions Certified Public Accountant in 1989 and Certified Financial Planner TM in 1994. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association.

Kathleen enjoys traveling the world with her husband, Bryce, and jogging the beach with their “yorkie-poo” Kelly. Her other interest include working in the yard, reading, cooking, music and art.
