Dr. Callahan joined the company in March 2006 with over 15 years of experience in clinical investigations in both the pharmaceutical and medical device arena. Dr. Callahan’s recent experience includes directing the clinical development of an oncology product at MacroMed Inc for treatment of esophageal, breast and brain cancer that is currently in Phase II trials in the US and the EU. Prior to that position, she was the Clinical Director at CTI of an infrared imaging modality for the aid in breast cancer diagnosis that was being developed for a PMA submission to the FDA. Before joining the private business sector in 2000, Dr. Callahan spent 10 years on the faculty at the University of Utah School of Medicine in the Internal Medicine Division where she taught, directed clinical trials and conducted basic research. Dr. Callahan’s basic research was supported by grants from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and private funding sources such as the American Heart Association. In 1999, she was awarded the John J. Sampson Award from the AHA for a research project. Dr. Callahan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Utah, a Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and completed post-doctoral studies at the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. |
