Karl F. Kurz is chief operating officer for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation one of the world’s largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and development companies. He took on this role in December 2006.
Mr. Kurz joined Anadarko in 2000 as Manager Energy Marketing. He was promoted to Vice President Marketing in November 2003 to Senior Vice President Marketing and General Manager U.S. Onshore in May 2005 and to Senior Vice President North America Operations Midstream and Marketing in August 2006.
Mr. Kurz has been involved in the energy industry for more than 23 years. He began his career with ARCO Oil & Gas Company in 1983 and spent seven years in various upstream roles with a focus on reservoir and production engineering. In 1990 he continued his career with a move into ARCO Oil & Gas Company’s Crude Oil Marketing Department. Mr. Kurz became Manager of Vastar Resources Inc.’s Crude Oil and NGL Marketing Department in 1995 and was promoted to General Manager of Midstream and Marketing in 1998.
Active in his community Mr. Kurz served on the Board of Directors for the Carl McCain Foundation a non-profit foundation providing financial assistance for individuals with medical needs in the energy industry. He is also an Eagle Scout a member of Kingsland Baptist Church and is involved with TeenCBS a national interdenominational Bible study for high school students.
Mr. Kurz holds a bachelor of science in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1983. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. |
