Dr. Karl-Peter Schlichting, Managing Director, Germany. Dr. Schlichting has spent his entire career in the agribusiness industry beginning in 1980 when he joined Hoechst AG in Frankfurt. He progressed through several positions to become Head of Indication Areas in the Crop Protection Division. After merger of the agricultural activities of Hoechst AG and Schering AG to form AgrEvo, in 1994, Dr. Schlichting was appointed Head of International Marketing & Sales supervising Product Portfolio Management, Business Intelligence and Marketing Communications. In 1996, Dr. Schlichting took over as Regional Director - Asia Pacific responsible for Crop Protection, Environmental Health and the Seed and Biotechnology businesses, acting as Country Head for Japan and in parallel, managing 15 Asian Countries with more than 3000 employees. Dr. Schlichting continued this assignment after the formation of Aventis CropScience in 2000 integrating the regional organizations of AgrEvo and Rhone Poulenc in Region Asia Pacific. Since leaving Aventis CropScience, Dr. Schlichting has held positions that include the role of CEO of CropDesign, an Agricultural Biotechnology company based in Ghent, Belgium. During his time with the firm, he reshaped the business strategy and raised Euros16 Million in new capital. Dr. Schlichting received his PhD in agricultural sciences from the University of Kiel and has attended several senior executive management seminars at IMD, Lausanne, Switzerland. |
