Karin Anderson concentrates her practice on representing management in employment matters in federal and state courts, as well as before federal and state administrative agencies. She has handled a broad range of employment disputes involving age, race, disability and sex discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge and breach of contract. Karin also counsels employers and management on human resource issues, related statutory compliance issues, employee handbooks and personnel policies, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and strategies for employee discipline and termination.
Prior to its merger with Ford & Harrison, she practiced law at Matkov Salzman in Chicago. Earlier in her career, Karin worked for a number of years as a case worker and administrator in the state's child welfare system where she represented abused and neglected children, their guardians, foster parents, relative caregivers and birth parents.
Karin is licensed to practice in Illinois and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the District of Colorado. Karin is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Federal Trial Bar and Labor and Employment Sections.
Karin enjoys speaking on employment law topics and has presented programs on the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act, and the interplay of those laws with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
