Ms. Peterka is experienced in all aspects of intellectual property law, including domestic and international patent, trademark, and copyright preparation, prosecution, acquisition, enforcement and maintenance, patent and trademark opinion work, trade secret protection, domain name protection, intellectual property litigation, due diligence efforts, securitization of intellectual property and Internet law. Ms. Peterka also has significant experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of intellectual property related transactions, including license agreements, confidentiality agreements, consulting agreements, technology transfer agreements, university research agreements and joint development agreements.
In her practice, she counsels and represents Fortune 500 companies, as well as a number of mid-size and start-up organizations in a broad range of technical areas, including chemical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, biotechnology and business methods. She is admitted to practice in California and Illinois and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from Arizona State University, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
Prior to joining Dykema, Ms. Peterka was employed as a senior intellectual property counsel at BP America, Inc. in Warrenville, Illinois. Prior to that, she was a shareholder and chair of the intellectual property group at Buchalter Nemer law firm in Los Angeles, California.
