Karen Andersen joined Major, Lindsey & Africa in September 2003 to head up the Seattle office. She has 15 years of experience in corporate, private equity, and general securities legal work.
Before joining MLA, Karen was managing director and general counsel of Incepta Ventures, a telecom venture capital fund. Prior to Incepta, Karen was a member of Summit Law Group, a law firm she helped found in 1997. Her work has included company and investor representation in private securities offerings, company and underwriter representation in public securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and general public and private company representation. Prior to founding Summit Law Group, Karen was a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle, where she practiced general corporate and securities work from 1994 until 1997. Karen began her law career in 1987 with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco.
Karen holds a B.A. in Political Science from University of Pacific and a law degree and MBA from the University of Washington. She is a member of the California and Washington Bars.
Karen lives near Husky Stadium in Seattle with her husband, Mike Matthews, and their two sometimes-wonderful children.
