Karen S. Sealander is legislative counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in its Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the Health Department, Karen has more than a decade of experience representing and counseling health care providers and others on legislative, regulatory and legal matters.
Karen serves as Counsel to a number of professional associations representing health care providers. Karen has special knowledge in matters relating to non-physician providers. She has presented to the National Commission on Allied Health and has testified before the Senate Special Committee on Aging and the Institute of Medicine Committee on the Future of Dental Education.
Karen has extensive experience formulating and implementing legislative and regulatory strategies, planning and coordinating Government Days on Capitol Hill, drafting written comments to federal agencies, preparing testimony and witnesses for congressional committee hearings, assessing congressional and Executive Branch developments of potential impact, meeting with congressional and administration officials, coordinating coalition activities, among other services.
Karen was a member of the Law Review at George Washington University Law School. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association.
