Karen received her BS in Biology, and has a Certificate in Secondary Education from Nazareth College. Ms. Rutherford-Root has more than 10 years of experience in discovering and developing novel targets for new chemical entities for three major therapeutic areas: Diabetes, Cardiovascular, and Central Nervous System. She possesses an extensive skill set in pharmaceutical research and development including but not limited to the following: electrophysiology, cell-based functional and receptor assays, ELISA, RIA, standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, RNA and DNA isolation and analysis, Taq-Man technology), enzyme activation/inhibition, protein purification (Northern and Western), in vitro and in vivo assay development and validation as well as a vast array of bench research techniques. Karen Rutherford-Root joined CeeTox as Senior Scientist, Technical Services Specialist and works closely with our Senior Scientific staff. Karen is also a Project Manager and is responsible for managing and communicating all facets of the project to the client, as well as guiding production through the laboratory. Prior to joining CeeTox, Karen worked for Pfizer, Inc., in Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology, where she was a Study Coordinator/Director, responsible for supporting worldwide development and advancement of compounds. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and has presented many papers at national scientific meetings. |
