Karen K. Gaunt Karen Gaunt's practice is concentrated in the areas of domestic and international trademark, copyright, internet, media, licensing, advertising and corporate law. She counsels clients on both transactional and litigation matters involving all aspects of trademark, copyright, internet, licensing and trade secret law and she frequently gives seminars on various intellectual property issues.
Karen has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in numerous trademark and copyright cases, in both state and federal court. She obtained a judgment on all counts in favor of a large financial institution client in a trademark dispute in Michigan, successfully pursued a pornographer in the Netherlands using a client's well-known trademark in an infringing domain name, negotiated a very favorable settlement for a genealogist client in copyright litigation in New Orleans, has successfully pursued trademark and copyright claims against various terminated franchisees throughout the United States for a franchisor client and has successfully negotiated favorable settlements for numerous other intellectual property clients. She also negotiates computer software licensing, outsourcing and R&D agreements and also litigates in these areas. The majority of her practice focuses on trademark, copyright, and advertising clearance and advice and she is honored to include in her client portfolio, some of the best known brand owners in the beauty care, music and health care industries.
