Karen A. Erikson is a partner and member of the firm's Intellectual Property, Health, and Corporate and Securities practice groups.
Karen's practice is concentrated in the areas of computer law, e-commerce and intellectual property. She assists and advises clients in connection with e-commerce issues, including agreements for websites, privacy issues, web development and hosting agreements and issues relating to doing business on the Internet. Karen performs technology transactional work, including drafting and negotiating software license and service agreements, complex computer system acquisitions, software and database development agreements and outsourcing agreements. Karen also advises clients regarding issues in connection with the confidentiality of data and other privacy issues.
Karen was co-editor-in-chief of CyberStrategies. This was a journal published by CCH Incorporated that was designed to help business lawyers and corporate executives understand issues at the intersection of technology, business and the law. CyberStrategies was published quarterly.
Prior to joining the firm, Karen was the legal counsel and assistant secretary at APACHE Medical Systems, Inc., a vendor of health care decision support software and services. While at APACHE, Karen drafted and negotiated software license and services agreements with health care providers, as well as joint marketing and data acquisition agreements. In addition, she was responsible for work relating to data rights, intellectual property, licenses and confidentiality of data and other trade secrets. |
