Justin Hill, Ph.D. is Head of IP Prosecution, in the London Office of law firm McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP. He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, where his practice focuses on broad range of IP matters, covering the procurement, exploitation and enforcement of IP rights including patents, designs, trade marks and trade secrets.
These activities include the preparation and prosecution of British, European and International patent, design and trade mark applications. Justin assists sophisticated technology clients with portfolio strategy and exploitation. He also deals with infringement and validity opinions, as well as opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. Justin spends a considerable amount of time in patent litigation matters before the English courts.
Key practice areas include electronics, computer implemented inventions in any field of technology, software applications, telecoms, including mobile and optical communications, and business method patents. Justin also advises on mechanical, chemical and, increasingly on life sciences issues.
Justin is a European patent attorney, a chartered patent attorney and a chartered physicist. He is also a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives Before the European Patent Office, the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents, Institute of Physics and serves on the Special Advisory Committee for Computer Implemented Inventions.
