Jürgen Dormann was appointed to the Board as a non-executive Director with effect from 1 June 2005. He became chairman of Swiss-based ABB Ltd in 2001 and chief executive in 2002, having been a non-executive director since 1998. He stepped down as chief executive on 1 January 2005, continuing his role as chairman. Prior to his roles at ABB, he had a successful career at Hoechst and Aventis spanning almost 40 years. He is vice chairman of the board at Sanofi-Aventis (France) and at Adecco S.A. (Switzerland) and is a member of the board at IBM (USA).
