Experience:
Since 1998 Julie Dickins has been the partner responsible for the firm’s UK and Brussels pro bono and community work, and charitable contributions. She devotes virtually all of her time to these activities, which include her personal involvement as coordinator of Mayer Brown's reading and numeracy partnering program at Malmesbury Primary School, Tower Hamlets, London, and citizenship/legal literacy program at Morpeth Secondary School also in Tower Hamlets. She coordinates the firm’s other community and pro bono work, including the roster of honorary legal advisors for the Citizens Advice Bureau at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, and serves as a member of the CSR Legal Network.
For nearly 20 years after joining the firm in 1980, Julie represented both landlords/property owners and tenants/occupiers in a wide variety of cases and disputes involving all aspects of real estate law. Her work in this area received recognition from the Legal 500 and the Chambers & Partners directories. She also represented applicants in liquor licensing matters. Julie was the recipient of the Robert Innes and Geoffrey Howard-Watson prizes for best Law Society Partnership and Ethics papers in 1980. She speaks French and German.
Notable Engagements:
Represented the successful tenant in Deanplan Limited v. Mahmoud and CT London Limited, one of the leading UK cases on accord and satisfaction.
Represented the successful landlord in Beegas Nominees Ltd v. BHP Petroleum Ltd and others (Court of Appeal).
