Julie Cox is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Chicago office. As a member of the Employee Benefits Department, Julie’s practice is concentrated primarily on designing, amending and administering pension plans (including cash balance plans), profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements. She counsels privately and publicly-held corporations and tax-exempt entities regarding fiduciary issues under ERISA, employee benefits issues involved in corporate transactions, executive compensation matters and the negotiation of administrative services agreements.
Julie has dealt with the Internal Revenue Service under various circumstances, including Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System filings and a VEBA tax appeal involving collective bargaining issues. She has represented clients involved in Department of Labor and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation audits. In addition, Julie has spoken to professional and trade groups regarding employee benefit issues.
