Joshua T. Buchman is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Chicago office. As a member of the Trial Department, Josh focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations and complex commercial litigation. He represents corporate clients in the health care, manufacturing, and defense contracting industries, both in civil litigation and in corporate internal investigations. He also represents individuals involved in government investigations.
Prior to joining McDermott, Josh served for nine years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, where he was Deputy Chief of the General Crimes Division. As a federal prosecutor, Josh concentrated in complex commercial crimes, including financial institution fraud, and securities and investor fraud. Josh tried numerous federal jury trials involving racketeering, narcotics trafficking, bankruptcy fraud, mail and wire fraud and bank fraud. Josh has also supervised, briefed and argued numerous cases before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, Josh served as the coordinator of environmental crimes prosecutions for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Josh was executive editor of the Law Review during law school. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia, and is a member of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Council of Lawyers. Josh is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Trial Bar), the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
