Joseph Rowley is vice president of Project Development for Sempra Generation, which operates power plants for the competitive market in North America. As vice president of Project Development, Rowley is responsible for the development of new power plants for Sempra Generation's portfolio of assets, with a current focus on projects powered by wind, solar and natural gas. Previously, as vice president of Energy Supply from 2006-2007, Rowley was responsible for fulfilling Sempra Generation’s power supply obligations, marketing the output of Sempra Generation’s power plants and arranging for fuel supplied to the power plants. As vice president of Asset Management from 2001-2005, Rowley was responsible for the operation of Sempra Generation’s power plants, which total over 2,600 megawatts at four natural gas-fueled facilities. While in this position, Rowley also developed the 550-MW Palomar Energy project. Before that, Rowley was director of Project Development from 1998-2001, and developed the 1250-MW Mesquite Power and 550-MW Elk Hills Power projects. Prior to joining Sempra Generation, Rowley was with the IID Power Department from 1990-1998, where he was responsible for IID’s power generation facilities, transmission projects, grid operations, and development of the 115-MW El Centro Unit 2 Repowering project. Rowley served in various engineering and project positions at SDG&E from 1980-1990. A registered professional engineer in mechanical engineering, Rowley has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Brigham Young University. |
