Professor Calo received his Ph.D. from Princeton University. A central theme in Professor Calo's work is the application of principles of chemical kinetics and transport phenomena to problems in science and engineering. Recent work includes the determination of the kinetic mechanisms of heterogeneous gas-solid reactions relevant to gasification and oxidation of coal and carbon materials. Another major research direction in Professor Calo's laboratory involves addressing technological problems of environmental importance. Professor Calo is a leading expert in reactor design and photocatalysis. He currently sits on the Executive Committee for the American Carbon Society. Professor Calo currently serves as Chairman of the Science Advisory Board of Solaris Nanosciences. |
