Joseph P. Ward represents businesses in a variety of corporate and securities matters. His practice includes corporate reorganizations, leveraged buy-outs, venture capital and other equity investments, spin-offs, mergers and acquisitions, and the negotiation of commercial supply and distribution agreements. Mr. Ward also provides general corporate advice for private companies, including corporate governance matters. Mr. Ward also has experience representing emerging biotechnology companies on a variety of issues, including entity formation, employee compensation, and private debt and equity financings (including financings qualifying under the Maryland Biotechnology Investment Incentive Tax Credit). Before joining Miles & Stockbridge, Mr. Ward worked as a corporate and securities associate at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP. Mr. Ward founded the Business Law Society at the University of Maryland School of Law and was on the School’s National Trial Team as well as the Managing Editor of The Business Lawyer.
