Since December 2004, Joe Damore, or 'Joe' as we know him, has served as the President and CEO of Mission Health and Hospitals.
Mission is western North Carolina’s largest health system and employer.
Previously Mr. Damore served as the President and CEO of Sparrow Hospital and Health System in Lansing, Michigan from 1990 to 2004. Prior to this position he served as Executive Vice President of Mercy Health Services in Farmington Hills, Michigan; Vice President of the Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, Ohio; and Vice President/Administrator of the Greenville (South Carolina) Hospital System.
Mr. Damore received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Thiel College, and a Master of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from The Ohio State University.
Mr. Damore, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), has served as the Regent of the ACHE/Central-Michigan Region and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association at The Ohio State University.
He is currently a member of the Board of United Way of Buncombe County, Asheville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
He is also the past Chair of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and served as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer at several colleges at Michigan State University until 2004, including the Colleges of Human Medicine, Business and Nursing.
Mr. Damore was named an Emerging Leader in U.S. Healthcare in 1989 by Healthcare Forum magazine. He also received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Chief Okemos Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Thiel College Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Michigan ACHE Regent’s Award for Management Excellence, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Ohio State University Graduate Program in Health Care Administration.
Mr. Damore resides in Candler, North Carolina, where he lives with his wife, Julie. Mr. Damore has two daughters (Lauren and Meredith) who are currently college students. |
