Colonel Joseph E. Pedone III, a native of Yonkers, New York, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army from Iona College in 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance and a Masters Degree in Business from Webster University. His military education consists of the Adjutant General Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, where he earned a Masters Degree in National Resource Strategy.

Colonel Pedone has served in Europe, Korea, and numerous tours in the United States. His assignments include: Corps G1/Adjutant General and Commander, 1st Personnel Group, I (US) Corps, Fort Lewis, Washington; Chief, Distribution Division, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate, United States Army Personnel Command; G1, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Commander, 95th AG Battalion (Reception), Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Chief, Adjutant General Branch, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate, United States Army Personnel Command; Executive Officer and Professional Development Officer, General Officer Management Office, Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army; Senior Team Leader/Small Group Instructor, Adjutant General Officer Advanced Course, Soldier Support Institute, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana; Commander, 261st Personnel Services Company, 7th Personnel Group, VII Corps, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army; Adjutant General Advisor, Readiness Group Seneca, Seneca Army Depot, New York; Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Post Adjutant, and Chief, Military Personnel Office, United States Army Garrison, Fort Drum, New York; and Assistant Training Officer, G3, 2d Infantry Division, Eighth United States Army.

Colonel Pedone's awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with eight Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Army General Staff Identification Badge.

Colonel Pedone and his wife have two children.
