As a champion of innovation on behalf of customers, Mr. Sheets was instrumental in launching Dow Corning’s efforts to serve customers via the internet. In 2001, he was named Dow Corning’s General Manager for Web Business and by 2002, the company had launched its Xiameter® brand offering a web-based business model designed to serve customers who require access to high quality products, but do not desire extra service and support. Since its introduction, Xiameter has become a highly successful business and continues to set the standard in specialty chemicals internet business models.
In 2003, Sheets became Dow Corning’s Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, a role in which his extensive commercial experience provides ongoing insight into the company’s customer-centric strategy. In 2005, Mr. Sheets also assumed the role of Americas Area President. Working in close collaboration with the CEO and other corporate leaders, Sheets plays a key role in managing growth through total customer solutions.
Since joining Dow Corning in 1982, Mr. Sheets has held a variety of management and professional positions in accounting, finance and marketing. He had a long association with Dow Corning’s electronics business, where he held a variety of commercial management positions leading to increasing global responsibilities in this growing business. During this time, he improved customer relationships, channel effectiveness and led the commercialization of new products.
Mr. Sheets earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and management from Albion College and a master’s of business administration in operations management from the University of Michigan. |
