Joe initiated his banking career in 1970 at Citibank (NY) as an executive trainee and rose to vice president in the bank’s commercial banking division. In 1974 he joined European American Bank (NYC) as vice president in the corporate banking division. He advanced to chief credit officer and oversaw the bank’s management credit training program; later, he was promoted to manager of the bank’s west coast offices in Los Angeles.
In 1980 he joined California Commerce Bank (Los Angeles) as executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief credit officer. In 1982 he was elected president and a director of Columbia National Bank (Santa Monica), and in 1989 he was named to similar positions with Sterling Bank (Los Angeles). Sterling Bank was later sold to City National Bank (Beverly Hills), and Joe was named senior vice president and senior team leader.
Joe is a graduate of St. Francis College, N.Y. (B.A. in economics), and holds an MBA in finance from Adelphi University, N.Y. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. |
