Joseph B. Giminaro is the Co-Manager of Stroock’s Tax Certiorari Group. He has over 20 years’ experience handling complex real estate tax matters.
Mr. Giminaro handles major real estate tax cases before the New York City Tax Commission and in pre-trial settlement negotiations. He also provides advice on real estate tax issues relating to new acquisitions and development projects. Prior to Stroock, he headed the Tax Certiorari departments at Graubard Mollen & Miller and Shea & Gould. He successfully negotiated one of the City’s largest real property tax settlements for a major shopping mall, resulting in over $300 million in assessment reductions. He has successfully negotiated multi-million dollar assessment reductions for office buildings, hotels, shopping centers, industrial facilities, residential buildings, cooperatives and condominiums. Mr. Giminaro is the former Chief Real Estate Counsel to the NYC Department of Finance.
