Jorge Arciniega is a partner in law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Los Angeles office. He is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department and serves as co-chair of the Firm’s Los Angeles Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department. Jorge focuses his practice on intellectual property, advising clients throughout the world on trademark and copyright selection, creation, protection, registration and enforcement.
Jorge also advises clients with respect to commercial exploitation of their intellectual property rights. Jorge has drafted and negotiated hundreds of franchise, license, and purchase and sale agreements for clients from a wide range of industries, including apparel, cosmetics, computer software, video game, music, motion picture, television, food and beverage, hospitality, medical instruments, financial services and sporting goods.
As a corollary to his intellectual property experience, Jorge counsels clients on various aspects of internet commerce, including domain name registration and dispute resolution, advertising, copyright, publicity, privacy, defamation and freedom of speech issues, co-branding, licensing, web site development and hosting agreements, music and video web casting, and telemarketing and fulfillment agreements. Jorge also has extensive transactional experience representing companies from diverse industries in international transactions, most notably cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, manufacturing joint ventures and distribution arrangements.
Jorge is featured in the book Beyond L.A. Law, Inspiring Stories of People Who’ve Done Fascinating Things With A Law Degree, for he is also an accomplished professional musician who has performed in concert or on record with Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Mariah Carey, Tito Puente, Dionne Warwick and many others.
