Jordan S. Weinstein is a partner in the firm's Trademark and Copyright Practice Group. His area of practice encompasses counseling, licensing and litigation in U.S. and international trademark, copyright, unfair competition, Internet and high technology matters. He provides opinions on trademark and copyright availability and infringement, and has been engaged in numerous opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as appeals and infringement litigation. His clients span a wide range, including the apparel, jewelry, restaurant, computer, Internet and consumer product industries.
Mr. Weinstein received his Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law, The American University, in 1983 and a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University in 1979.
Mr. Weinstein is an author of several monographs and articles on intellectual property and computer issues, published in national and international journals. He lectures extensively on U.S. and international trademark law, practice and litigation; and on protecting intellectual property in the apparel, sporting goods, health care and Internet fields. He has also prepared testimony for, and testified on, trademark legislation at the federal and state levels.
Mr. Weinstein was an adjunct professor of Trademark Law at the George Mason University Law School in 1998, and a guest lecturer in Trademark Law, at the George Washington University National Law Center, 1996. He is a Master of the Bench in the Federal American Inn of Court (member, Program Committee); an active member of the International Trademark Association (Chairman, Madrid Protocol Subcommittee, 1995-97); American Bar Association (Co-chairman, Committee on Trademarks and the Internet, 1995-); District of Columbia Bar (Patent, Trademark and Copyright Section, 1989-); and the Manufacturing Jewelers and Suppliers Association.
Mr. Weinstein is admitted to practice in the state and Federal District Courts of Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the District of Columbia; and in the Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Disputes.org have appointed Mr. Weinstein to their panels of qualified arbitrators for domain name disputes. |
