Mr. Weitberg chairs the firm’s trusts and estates department. Practicing in New Jersey and New York, he has over 17 years’ experience in estate planning, estate and trust administration, estate and probate litigation, tax planning, and tax litigation and dispute resolution. He also has substantial experience representing businesses in various matters, including mergers, sales and acquisitions, partnership agreements, lending and borrowing transactions, and executive compensation plans. Mr. Weitberg has lectured and published extensively on tax and probate issues. His publications have been featured in the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section newsletter of the New Jersey State Bar Association, of which he was editor for two years, the New Jersey Law Journal and the New Jersey Lawyer. He has lectured extensively for the National CLE Conference, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), and other organizations, and has served as an instructor for ICLE’s Skills and Methods course in the areas of will drafting and probate practice. He has also conducted numerous seminars in estate planning sponsored by various organizations. Mr. Weitberg is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. From 2001 to 2002, he was Chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and its Board of Consultors, the governing body of the section. He has served on the section’s Uniform Trust Code Committee, and previously served on the section’s Uniform Probate Code Revision Committee and the Prudent Investor Rule Drafting Committee. In 1999, Mr. Weitberg received the Legislation Recognition Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association for outstanding contributions in the area of probate, real property, and trust law. He has acted as an expert for the Committee on Attorney Advertising of the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Office of Attorney Ethics. He is also a member of the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association. |
