Jonathan Lakey, Ph.D., age 35, is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta, Comprehensive Tissue Centre, Departments of Surgery Laboratory Medicine & Pathology. He is the supervisor of islet isolation for the clinical research program at the University of Alberta. He and Dr. Shapiro will be supervising the Company?s canine Islet Sheet studies at the University of Alberta. His pioneering work on development of methods for islet isolation formed the background to the current success of the Edmonton Group in 14 patients who have remained off insulin for longer than one year. |
