Jonathan Berrier serves as Vice President of Mercury Public Affairs based in Sacramento.Mr. Berrier brings to Mercury a portfolio of professional experience in local, state, and national politics, as an operative with the Republican National Committee, and as a political appointee in the Bush Administration. Since joining Mercury, he has been responsible for coordinating several successful and ongoing multi-million dollar public affairs campaigns involving survey research, paid media, grassroots, lobbying and other communications disciplines.Prior to joining Mercury, Mr. Berrier served on the re-election campaign for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, managing staff and projects across each division of an organization The Los Angeles Times called "a nearly flawless campaign." He also designed and executed the campaign's Election Day Operations program, deploying hundreds of volunteer attorneys statewide to monitor polling places and respond to reports of voter fraud and intimidation on Election Day 2006.Before the Schwarzenegger campaign, Mr. Berrier served in the White House as Communications and Political Affairs Coordinator in the Office of the Vice President. In this role he was responsible for preparing political briefings for the Vice President, coordinating with the Vice President’s Press Office, and supporting White House senior staff members on a daily basis. He was also a member of the confirmation teams for the nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court of the United States, working primarily in the area of communications.Prior to his tenure at the White House, Mr. Berrier served at the Republican National Committee as Deputy Regional Political Director for the Midwest, where he was a primary liaison between the national party and the executive leadership of eight state parties in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Before the RNC, he worked in the political division of the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign, serving both in the Arlington, VA headquarters and on the ground in Iowa.Mr. Berrier is a graduate of Harvard University with a degree in Government.
