As CEO and director of Merriman Curhan Ford Jon Merriman is responsible for overall growth of the firm generating long-term shareholder value and executive recruiting and retention. He also still actively advises the firm’s fast-growing clients on complex capital market issues. With more than 25 years of experience in the investment banking and brokerage business he brings deep experience managing and growing businesses as well as providing investment banking and capital markets advice to a broad variety of public and private companies. His extensive institutional network and his trading experience give him a unique perspective when working with investment banking clients as well as institutional investors.
Prior to forming Merriman Curhan Ford Merriman was managing director and head of the Wells Securities (WFS) equity group formerly First Security Van Kasper (FSVK) and served on FSVK’s board of directors. As a result of a financing completed by WFS he was appointed to the board of directors of Ratexchange Corporation a publicly traded company. Merriman was subsequently appointed chairman and CEO of Ratexchange which he restructured into Merriman Curhan Ford.
Prior to WFS Merriman served as managing director and head of capital markets at The Seidler Companies in Los Angeles where he also served on the firm’s board of directors. Prior to that he was director of equities for Imperial Capital LLC. Rounding out his experience Merriman began his career in the investment banking group of Merrill Lynch later served as a arbitrage and derivatives trader and cofounded a hedge fund company called Curhan Merriman Capital Management.
Merriman current serves on the boards of Leading Brands Inc. a publicly traded beverage company and ARC Medical a Chinese medical device company. Over the course of his career he has served on more than 10 private and public company boards.
Merriman holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College. He is based in our San Francisco office. |
