Joi White is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group of Carr & Ferrell. Ms. White specializes in intellectual property law, with an emphasis on international and domestic trademark prosecution, counseling and enforcement. Ms. White counsels a wide range of businesses in managing their trademark portfolios, clearing new marks, developing and implementing enforcement strategies, and in navigating various trademark and domain name disputes. Representative clients are in the fields of computer security software and appliances, consumer and business software publishing, consumer electronics, telecommunications, and medical diagnostic device companies. In addition, Ms. White works with a number of clients who specialize in areas outside of the high-tech industry such as clothing and cosmetics companies, wineries and restaurants, travel and entertainment service providers. Prior to joining Carr & Ferrell, Ms. White worked at an electronic design automation (EDA) company where she assisted in managing the trademark portfolio and provided support to in-house clients regarding clearance, adoption and use of new marks. Since 1998, Ms. White has served as a member of the High Technology Board at Santa Clara University School of Law, and contributes to the steering of the school’s high-tech program through her activities as a Board member. She is also a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) , and was selected to serve on the Information Resources Committee for the 2006-2007 term. Ms. White has supervised the Internet & Intellectual Property Justice Clinic as an adjunct faculty member at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where, in 2005, she led the students to successfully defend a UDRP complaint filed by Home Depot against the owner of the HomeDepotSucks.com domain. |
