John Tyson is a university distinguished professor of molecular cell biology at Virginia Tech and head of the school’s computational cell biology laboratory. The unifying theme of his research is the problem of spatial and temporal organization in chemical, biochemical and biological systems. Dr. Tyson’s group develops mathematical models of the control systems in yeast and mammalian cells, and creates software for studying complex molecular regulatory systems. Dr. Tyson is the former co-chief editor of the Journal of Theoretical Biology and the past president of the Society of Mathematical Biology. |
