Mr. Sorrell is a graduate of The College of Insurance (now St John’s University) in New York City with a B.B.A. in property casualty insurance and marketing. He began his career in the claims department at Reliance Insurance Company. He transitioned to the underwriting side in 1986 joining CIGNA Special Risks. His duties involved production and underwriting Fortune 1000 accounts. In 1988, John joined Transamerica Insurance Group, who moved him west as the Regional Manager for Excess Property in Los Angeles. In 1993, he joined AIG traveling the entire USA, Latin America and Asia developing property and casualty insurance opportunities and building 2 profit centers. In 1997, Sumitomo hired John to revitalize its west coast operations. Over the years, John has also held senior production management and lead underwriting positions with Beecher Carlson, GE Global (IRI) and AXIS Capital, handling large property/casualty accounts and E&S business. In addition, he is part of the CPCU Society, Southern California Insurance Professionals and served on the board of Hathaway Children’s Services for many years. John joined Lemac & Associates Inc. in 2004 with responsibilities for enhancing Lemac's property capabilities and expanding its client base. |
