30-year veteran and recipient of several awards from both the healthcare and information technology industries, John Ounjian is well known as an outspoken advocate for the use of cutting-edge technology to transform business. As EVP of the Healthcare and Insurance business unit, Ounjian is responsible for the ongoing development and evolution of Vitria's strategy in those markets, lending his valuable expertise to the sales and marketing efforts, and working closely with Vitria's customers on their integration and business process-related initiatives.
Previously, Ounjian was SVP and CIO at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota (BCBSM), a leading and nationally recognized healthcare payer organization. At BCBSM, Ounjian led all corporate-wide IT and eBusiness initiatives, systems development, hardware acquisition and integration, as well as claims operations including processing, adjudication, production accuracy, timeliness and efficiency. He was an active member on key Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association committees, developing national technology plans and operating policies for Inter-Plan strategies.
Prior to BCBS of Minnesota, John held senior consultant management roles at many premiere healthcare organizations, including Kaiser Permanente. He has also served as senior vice president at H.F. Ahmanson & Co./Home Savings of America and Union Bank of California.
In 2003, Ounjian was named one of Computerworld's "Premier 100 IT Leaders" and received a TETHIE award for "Most Innovative Information Technology in Payer Community" for his work in HIPAA compliance and claims processing. He is an active speaker on the topic of emerging technologies in healthcare and has appeared at prominent industry conferences such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, the America's Health Insurance Plans, The Consumer Directed Health Plan Conference & Expo, among many others. |
