John provides clients with skilled advice on general corporate and public law matters, including related tax, securities, public utilities and telecommunications issues. In particular, John counsels closely-held clients on mergers, acquisitions and venture capital arrangements. He provides counsel to venture capital and buyout funds, e-commerce start up companies, governmental boards and agencies regarding a variety of legal and business concerns. John’s experience also includes handling business financings, private placements, general real estate matters and advising domestic and international companies on matters of corporate structuring. John has done extensive work on cable television franchising and telecommunications law from both the municipality and telecommunications provider perspectives. John served as the elected village clerk for the Village of Gates Mills from 1991 2000, chairing the Village’s Insurance and Compensation Committees. He is a trustee of the Ohio & Erie Canal Association, Ohio Canal Corridor, and a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Bar Associations. A frequent lecturer, John has spoken at the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management, various telecommunications seminars and before the Family Business Planning Institute. John began his tenure with Calfee in 1984, becoming a partner in 1993. |
