John Mather John Mather holds the position of Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer responsible for streamlining the Company’s operating practices, managing costs and improving customer service. He is a member of the Company’s Executive Committee and Management Committee.
Mr. Mather oversees Manulife’s global Strategic Procurement and Information Systems functions. He also participated in Manulife’s integration team, overseeing the Company’s recent merger with John Hancock Financial Services.
Mr. Mather joined Manulife in 2001 as Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer where he was responsible for advancing the Company’s effective use of information technology worldwide. Mr. Mather has also implemented a number of systems and business processing outsourcing projects supporting key aspects of many Manulife operations.
He became Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer in 2003, and was appointed to his current position in April 2004, upon completion of the merger with John Hancock.
Prior to joining Manulife, Mr. Mather was responsible for information technology at Ontario Power Generation (OPG), where he helped establish New Horizons System Solutions; a 700-person technical group dedicated to providing information system services to OPG, British Energy and other North American energy companies.
During the past 20 years, Mr. Mather has also held senior level positions with various consulting and technology firms in both the U.S. and Canada.
Mr. Mather holds a Master of Science in Computer Information & Control Engineering from the University of Michigan and a BSE in Industrial & Operations Engineering, also from the University of Michigan. |
