John is co-founder and vice president of systems at Ambarella Inc.
Ju oversees company-wide software activities and manages the software and system hardware teams in U.S. and Taiwan design centers to develop the next generation of consumer digital video applications. Ju has more than 15 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. His expertise in software and firmware development from algorithm to system production has enabled him to champion technical challenges and to mentor team members in the entire life cycle of chip design.
Prior to co-founding Ambarella, Ju joined Afara Websystems as senior director of software engineering. He built a 30-member software team, which architected and delivered software for Afara's multi-core multi-thread processor. Afara Websystems was acquired by Sun Microsystems in July 2002.
Before joining Afara, Ju held multiple senior management positions at C-Cube Microsystems. He was the firmware director of the Home Media division and supervised a team of 40+ people to do audio/video codecs and system applications. Ju managed overall software development for multiple generations of C-Cube video processors, covering professional broadcasting to consumer DVD recorder markets. During his time at C-Cube, Ju successfully led his team in bringing many generations of C-Cube codec processors into customer production.
Prior to C-Cube, John conducted his video research at Sarnoff Research Lab. He received the Sarnoff Technical Achievement award for pioneering in MPEG video algorithm development.
Ju holds a bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University and a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Princeton University. |
