John Granatino is responsible for daily operations affecting Belo Corp.'s 40 web sites, including news, ad operations, audience development, creative services and site services. Granatino has 30 years of online and print experience. In 1980, he joined The Providence Journal and served in a variety of positions, including features editor, state editor and, for four years, city editor. Later, Granatino became the director of electronic publishing at the Belo-owned Journal, where he launched numerous electronic information services for eight years. Granatino joined BIM in early 2000 as the regional director of web sites for the Eastern and Texas clusters and was quickly promoted that same year to vice president for news and operations. He was named assistant general manager in 2005. His web sites have won numerous national and regional awards, including the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi award, RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Awards, Newspaper Association of America's Digital Edge awards, Editor & Publisher EPpy awards and the Online News Association's Online Journalism Awards. Granatino is a graduate of Tufts University. He serves on the board of MySanAntonio.com, a joint venture of Belo Corp. and the Hearst Corporation. He is a former board member of the Online News Association and the Newspaper Association of America New Media Federation and is a frequent speaker at online industry conferences. |
