John Giunta is the chief operating officer of Tekmark Global Solutions. He has held this position since 1997 and is directly responsible for managing Tekmark’s marketing and sales activities.

Mr. Giunta joined Tekmark in 1996 as vice president of strategic alliances, where he was responsible for telecom-focused business development and for developing Tekmark’s business solutions division. Today, Mr. Giunta is actively involved with one of Tekmark’s development partners in India, Compucom Software LTD, and serves on Compucom’s board of directors.

Mr. Giunta’s telecommunications career stretches back over 30 years. He came to Tekmark from Lucent Technologies (formerly Bell Labs), where he helped develop large process automation systems. Upon joining Bell Labs in the 1970s, Mr. Giunta pioneered the conception and successful development of the first-ever process automation system. Its implementation has resulted in tremendous ongoing efficiencies and productivity improvements in the public switched network.

In the 1980s, Mr. Giunta led the AT&T venture that developed Commview, the world’s first commercial, full-featured picture archiving and communications system (PACS). This digital medical imaging system was marketed and later sold to AT&T’s partner in that venture, Philips Medical Systems.

In Mr. Giunta’s most recent assignment at Lucent, he managed the development organization that introduced two new products into Lucent’s family of operations support systems. These products are now among the fastest growing products in Lucent’s applications software business unit.

Mr. Giunta holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering/computer science from Columbia University.
