Mr. Fowler is Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer at Quad/Graphics, the largest privately held commercial printer in the Western Hemisphere and the third largest printer - public or private - in the United States. In his role, Mr. Fowler oversees the Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Corporate Purchasing, Legal, Risk Management, Shareholder Relations, and Mergers & Acquisitions functions of the company. In addition, Mr. Fowler is responsible for the company's international operations and spends significant time developing, implementing and financing the company's profitable growth, both domestically and abroad.
Since its founding in 1971, Quad/Graphics has grown to $2 billion in revenues almost solely through internal growth and greenfield startups. This has required a cumulative investment of $3.5 billion in new plant and equipment financed through internally generated cash, bank financing, leveraged leases and private placements. Quad/Graphics has chosen to remain private and has not raised any equity since the original $250,000 raised at incorporation in 1971.
Mr. Fowler began his distinguished career at Quad/Graphics in 1980 as Vice President & Controller, which, at the time, was the company's top financial position. He was already familiar with Quad/Graphics' operations, having worked for the company as an audit and tax manager while employed by Arthur Andersen.
Mr. Fowler's community service includes Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and Boy Scouts of America-Milwaukee Council. He is a past President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and currently serves on several boards.
Mr. Fowler attended Tufts University and Iowa State University, graduating summa cum laude with degrees in both economics and business/accounting. Mr. Fowler and his wife, Joanne, reside in Oconomowoc, Wis., and have three daughters. |
