John Flock offers a unique blend of trial experience, understanding of technology, and intellectual property expertise.
Mr. Flock is an experienced trial lawyer with nine years of service as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City. In addition to his trial work, Mr. Flock has argued appellate cases, advised attorneys on trial tactics, and given demonstrations of trial techniques.
Mr. Flock has a strong scientific and technical background. Beginning with his undergraduate physics degree (B.S. Physics 1974, from Cooper Union) and continuing with his work at Kenyon & Kenyon, he has had a broad exposure to many areas of technology. He also has particular expertise and hands-on experience in computer technology including: design and implementation of mainframe and personal computer programs, supervision of a computer programming staff, and service as court-appointed receiver for a software company.
Mr. Flock is a frequent writer and speaker on intellectual property issues. He is a regular contributor to the Computer Law Association Bulletin and former Associate Editor of that publication. He has been published in the National Law Journal on copyright issues, lectured on intellectual property issues for, inter alia, Practicing Law Institute (Markman hearings), the ABA Business Law Section (Internet Issues), the New York Law Journal Seminars and the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association, and published on-line articles on intellectual property litigation for the National Law Journal. He has been twice interviewed on Entertainment Tonight regarding celebrities' rights on the Internet.
