John Bertero was named Executive Vice President overseeing the operations of the Southern California, Desert and Centex Destination Properties-West (CDP) Regions of Centex Homes in February 2006. In this position, Mr. Bertero oversees all sales and operations for Centex Homes and CDP in Southern California, Arizona, Las Vegas and New Mexico. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Bertero served as the Division President of the LA/Ventura Division of Centex, and also served as Vice President and General Counsel for the West Coast Region of Centex for 5 years. In that capacity, Mr. Bertero was involved in the structuring and negotiation of land acquisitions for various Divisions in California, and the structuring, negotiation and management of joint ventures and financing for several large, master-planned communities. Prior to joining Centex in 1997, Mr. Bertero served as Vice President and Director of Northern California Legal Affairs for KB Home (then Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation) for 3 years. Before joining KB Home, Mr. Bertero was a partner in the Los Angeles office of the law firm of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble & Mallory, where his practice focused on complex commercial real estate transactions, including resort acquisition, financing, land acquisition and development, environmental clean-up, industrial leasing and office leasing. Mr. Bertero has been an active member of the BIA Greater Los Angeles/Ventura chapter since 2002, holding a position on the Board of Directors, and serving as the Treasurer, Vice President, and currently as the President of the Chapter. Mr. Bertero received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from UCLA Law School. |
