John Gibson joined ONEOK in May, 2000 and is president of ONEOK Energy Companies, which is composed of the company’s pipelines and storage, gathering and processing, natural gas liquids and energy services segments. Prior to ONEOK, Gibson was the executive vice president of Koch Energy, Inc., a subsidiary of Koch Industries.
Gibson's career in the energy industry began in 1974 as a refinery engineer with Exxon Company, USA. He then spent 18 years with Phillips Petroleum Company in a variety of domestic and international positions in their natural gas, natural gas liquids and exploration and production businesses. When Gibson left Phillips in 1995, he was vice president of marketing of GPM Gas Corporation, a wholly owned gas gathering, processing and marketing subsidiary. Gibson is active in many professional organizations and has served on the board of the Association of Texas Intrastate Natural Gas Pipelines. He was an original member of the Gas Industry Standards Board and former board member of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America. Gibson’s community involvement has included work with Junior Achievement, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Boy Scouts of America and Habitat for Humanity.
A native of Kansa City, Kansas, Gibson holds an engineering degree from the University of Missouri at Rolla. John and his wife, Kristie, have one daughter, Katie, a junior at the University of Kansas. |
