Mr. Weber, 54, has been our director since February 1993. Mr. Weber served in the United States House of Representatives from 1981 to 1993, representing Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District. Since 1994, Mr. Weber has been a Partner of Clark & Weinstock, Inc., providing strategic advice to institutions interested in issues before the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. Mr. Weber is Chairman of the National Endowment for Democracy, a private, nonprofit organization created in 1983 to strengthen democratic institutions around the world through non-governmental efforts. He also serves on the Board of The Council on Foreign Relations and co-chaired a major independent task force on U.S. Policy Toward Reform in the Arab World with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. He was co-director of the Domestic Policy Project of the Aspen Institute and currently serves as a full Trustee for the Institute and is a fellow at the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota. In addition, Mr. Weber serves on the U.S. Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Democracy Promotion. |
